Can you remember the name John MacTavish aka Soap MacTavish?
Who was one of the main characters of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. He is known as Soap because he just scrubs the terrorists clean. Between two heroes of that game, he was the only survivor.

Where the story of Modern warfare ends, the story of Modern Warfare 2 starts from there. And this sequel of MW will just blow you away. The story of single-player mode is a nonstop thrill ride with action, adventure, explosion, war, and deception.
MW2 story starts with a spectacular opening credits scenes as dialogs and snapshots from the previous game played in the background. Afterward, the new guy General Shepherd monologues his thought on war and power. You can tell his words carry weight because he is been through a lot of wars and seen enough shit.
Though the dialogues of Shepherd and other soldiers are cool, but on the other hand, Shepherd's words provide a small explanation on - Why the United States attacks countries and pushes their noses into the business of others.
"We are the most powerful military force in the history of men. Every fight is our fight! Because what happens over here, matters over there. We don't get to sit one out." - General Shepherd

Within the first few cutscenes, you get the sense that Shepherd wants to be a winner. He wants to write his own history and that desire is what initiates the events of the game.
You take control of Private Joseph Allen as a part of the rangers. You're tasked with retaking a city in Afghanistan. Upon your success, Shepherd recruits into the glorious task force 141, an elite unit under his direct command. You have to work alongside with MacTavish, the soap boy and protagonist from COD4. And I love this! Because just like the Black Ops 1 to Black Ops 2 you play as Alex Mason and then you play alongside him.
Makarov is the main villain and he begins a campaign against Europe. If you already played Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, you know about Vladimir Makarov. Probably you forgot as he was a minor character there.

Shepherd sends Allenobn a dangerous undercover mission, disguised as a terrorist to gain Makarov's trust.
''You don't want to know what it's cost already to put you next to him. It will cost you a piece of yourself. It will cost nothing compared to everything you'll save." - General Shepherd
Which brings us to one of the most controversial moments in videogame history. It's still shocking to play through this level. Seriously, what the f***!

The scene in the Russian airport can be evaluated in one of two ways, either it's a desperate attempt to shock the player and create a scene as memorable as the nuke going off in COD4 or it's the writers way of showing how a single horrific act can spark a greater war. I think it's a combination of both.
That's why ''No Russian'' level of MW2 is the most controversial in the gaming history. It puts you in a position to kill lots of innocent Russians at the airport.
There's no consequence for not shooting the civilian though and the game gives you the option of skipping it entirely. So I skipped!
Since Makarov was aware of Allen's identity from the beginning, it means Shepherd sent him to die. He is a real Martyr! And when the authorities found an American behind this attack, they declared war against the United States without a second of hesitation.
But Russian authority didn't even inquiry about other 4 Russian shooters and declared war. And in the game, you'll see they have even a security camera. Isn't it weird?
Let's go! Invade the White House! It's stupid! But again, hey! It's just a game!
So Roach and MacTavish head to Rio De Janeiro to find some evidence that proves Makarov is behind the terrorist attack and find a guy named Alejandro Roj.
They have civilians all over the game and there're real people caught in the crossfire. You can't kill them though, even if you shot you'll get warning - You shot a civilian, watch your fire!
At this point, the story has split into two narratives, which are typical for Call of Duty. On one side we got Sergeant Foley and the American gang defending the mainland from the Russian invasion. And on the other hand, Soap, Price, and Ghost try to track down Makarov and find evidence to accuse him.
It's cool to play as the Americans and fight off the Russian (No offense) by defending and retaking the White House, running to the top to light green flares, signaling the jets not to bomb, and seeing flares spread out across Washington DC.

Modern Warfare 2 has some memorable moments and visual representation. I like these missions because I kind of imagine it as what if the Cold War turned into a real war situation.
I am not going to tell you more. If you didn't play it yet, you need to rush now. Because this is epic!
Modern warfare 2 gives players a lot of choice on how they move around, what class they choose and, the map design is one of the core reasons you'll find enough enjoyment in the multiplayer.
MW2 is still a great game, the story may not go with people's expectations, but for many of us, this was the moment we became Call of Duty fans. It has a great story with memorable characters.
